Aarin Wilde

NOR Coordinator

Aarin Wilde (he/they) is a natural organic reduction operator, meaning he fosters the transformation of humans into soil at the Recompose Greenhouse. He considers himself to be a career nomad, but ultimately finds meaning in work that requires getting his hands dirty and connecting to the natural world. Prior to joining Recompose, he worked in many fields, including as an environmental educator, a naturalist aboard a whale watch boat, an equity consultant, and even a brief stint as a delivery driver for a florist.

They hold a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Indiana University and their thesis on tree-ring climate response in old-growth urban forests was published in Urban Forestry & Urban Greening. They were also a research assistant in a botany lab, assisting with invasive species removal and soil remediation. Though much of his academic experience is in the natural sciences, his true love is for social theory and ecological philosophy.

Aarin is a born and raised Midwesterner. They’re also a queer activist, animal owner, sci-fi/horror enjoyer, and homebody. When not at work, you can find him drinking too much coffee, baking obscure recipes, and finding new ways to annoy his cat, Lisa S. Beef.
