Recompose Seattle
After nearly a decade of design, development, fundraising, and collaboration, Recompose started accepting bodies for human composting in December 2020.
Our 20,000 square foot facility located in Seattle carefully orchestrates the Recompose human composting process while offering a beautiful and intimate space for friends and family to gather and honor the person who has died.
Recompose 101: In-Person Tours
These hour-long experiences offer a unique opportunity to tour Recompose within a community framework. You’ll see Recompose’s ceremony and community spaces as well as a portion of the vessel array in the Greenhouse, where human composting takes place. During the walk-through, you’ll learn about our history, values, goals, and the Recompose human composting process. The tour concludes with a seated Q & A session.
Recompose 101: Virtual Tours
Recompose’s online tours are similar to our in-person tours but offer the opportunity to be guided virtually through Recompose’s spaces and a portion of our Greenhouse from the comfort of wherever you choose.
