HJ-513, to legalize human composting, was introduced to the Virginia House of Representatives in January of 2023.
HJ-513, relating to natural organic reduction, was introduced by delegates Kenneth Plum, Kaye Kory, and Kathy Tran in January 2023. The bill was referred to the committee on rules, which directed the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers to study the establishment of organic reduction.
