Jonathan Hughes

Jonathan Hughes

Facilities Lead

Jonathan (he/him) manages NOR supplies, maintains vessel and process equipment and machinery, and leads the team in workplace safety practices and ergonomics. Sprouted and grown in the Pacific Northwest, he was instilled with a love and respect for natural environments, rituals and cycles.

Prior to joining Recompose, Jonathan worked in operations management within craft brewing, adaptogenic herb and fermentation production environments, contributing to the development of new products and innovating process efficiencies. His interest in exploring green land stewardship took him to Scotland where he worked on an organic farm and brewery focused on sustainable practices. It was there that his commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation flourished, a mindset he has carried with him throughout his career.

Jonathan has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Film Studies from Seattle University. He is passionate about the healing power of music and sound, snowboarding in the Cascade mountains, climate justice and combating systems of oppression. A believer in the personal empowerment that can be gained through traversing natural elements, Jonathan has enjoyed teaching rock climbing and leading youth trips throughout the Pacific Northwest as well as providing sailing instruction in a small fishing village in Iceland. He is thrilled to be supporting Recompose in their mission to shape the future of ecological death care.
