Shannon Marie Ellis-Brock

November 3, 1966 – October 7, 2024

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Shannon Marie Ellis-Brock, on October 7, 2024, at Swedish Cherry Hill Hospital, the very location where she entered this world a mere 58 years ago.

Shannon will be remembered as a devoted wife, loyal friend, Francophile, and life enthusiast. In Shannon’s world, one did not need an excuse to drink champagne, the joy of life, love and friendship were reasons enough for celebration.

The love that Shannon and Bert shared for over 30 years could rival any epic love poem. Their story began on Shannon’s birthday in 1990, they wed on January 7, 1993, and then spent the next three decades virtually inseparable. Together they explored culinary delights, theatric performances, long walks and bike rides, travel, and passionately, perhaps even rabidly, supporting Alabama football. Roll Tide.

She applied her incredible drive, passion for environmental and social justice, and tenacious spirit to her work at Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union, where she helped pioneer groundbreaking finance programs in support of energy efficiency, solar energy, and green building. Her efforts were transformative, giving countless families and businesses access to the tools needed for more sustainable living. Her legacy in this field will live on through the programs she championed, reflecting her vision for a better, more environmentally conscious world.

Shannon was a fierce friend. She was immensely thoughtful and would be the first to call and offer support when a friend was facing hardship. She collected friends everywhere she went, restaurants, grocery stores, even the commuter bus. She found and spread joy in the everyday—her world was filled with elegance, laughter, and a playful and, at times, mischievous spirit.

Shannon’s lust for life, her love for Bert, and her unwavering embrace of each moment will be dearly missed and will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband and soulmate, Bertram Brock, her sister Stacey Remlinger, and brother Brent Ellis. She was proceeded in life by her father, Robert James Ellis and mother, Alvina Mae Ellis.

A celebration of her life will be held on November 3, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Ballard Cut (2221 NW Market St, Seattle). In lieu of flowers, Bert kindly requests donations be made to PCC Farmland Trust, Lifelong Aids Alliance, or Food Lifeline in Shannon’s honor.
