Alice Davis

April 10, 1948 – January 4, 2026

Alice Goodfellow Davis born on April 10, 1948, in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Wilmington, Delaware. She was 77 years old.

Alice was the beloved wife of Tom and devoted mother to her sons, Matthew and Adam. She is also remembered with love by her brothers, Alan and Steve. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and William Goodfellow.

A passionate gardener, Alice found joy and fulfillment in nurturing both plants and people. Her commitment to sustainable living led her to manage Wilmington’s urban farm for many years—a role through which she helped bring fresh produce and environmental awareness to countless residents. Her hands were rarely idle; she believed deeply in the power of shared labor and green spaces to transform lives.

Equally committed to social justice, Alice dedicated herself to numerous religious and secular charity organizations throughout her life. Her activism was persistent—rooted in compassion and a belief that everyone deserved dignity and opportunity.

Faith was a cornerstone of Alice’s life. A lifelong churchgoer, she became an active member of Hanover Presbyterian Church upon settling in Wilmington. There, she found spiritual nourishment and fellowship while also engaging with interfaith communities across the city. Her inclusive approach to faith reflected her broader worldview: one grounded in empathy, action, and unity. Alice’s legacy is one of quiet strength, enduring kindness, and unwavering commitment to bettering the world around her. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and inspiration to all who continue the work she held dear. A Memorial Service will be held on March 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Hanover Presbyterian Church, 1801 North Jefferson Street. A  real-time video link will enable virtual attending. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, mourners consider a donation to Hanover’s Faith in Action Committee, of which Alice was a dedicated member for years.
