Peggy Whitmore

Peggy Ann Whitmore, 62, of Seattle, died August 14, 2026.
Peggy was born on April 11, 1964, to Donald and Alice (née Winter) Whitmore in Burien, WA. She attended Auburn High School and spent her junior year as a foreign exchange student in Denmark, returning home fluent in Danish. In her youth, Peggy loved to dance, especially jazz, and taught young dancers for a year as a teen. She also loved camping and created many joyful memories on Orcas Island with family and friends over the years.
In 1990, Peggy graduated from the School of Nursing at the University of Washington with a BSN. She worked as an RN at the University of Washington Medical Center for four years before tackling another challenging career by enrolling in law school. Peggy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a JD degree in May 1997. She went on to build a career she was proud of at multiple law firms as well as the US Department of Health and Human Services, which combined her joint passion for medicine and the law, working on resolving one of the largest Medicare fraud cases of that time. In 2006, Peggy returned home when she landed her dream job, working as an attorney for Seattle Children’s Hospital.
An avid cyclist who completed multiple long-distance rides, including across the US, Peggy earned the nickname “Piston Legs Peg” for her perfect cadence when cycling. Tragically, an uninsured driver ran a red light and hit Peggy when she was biking to work in 2008, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other severe injuries. The TBI from this crash prevented Peggy from returning to her regular career. She endured nearly two decades of surgeries, intense pain, cognitive difficulties from the TBI, and increasing loss of mobility.
Peggy is survived and greatly missed by her father, her sisters Cathy (Bob) and Nancy (John), her brothers William (“Bill”) (Tammy) and Stuart, and a crew of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. Peggy was very active with animal rescue, including taking in many cats over the years, and is also survived by her beloved cats Clover and Charlie Parker. She was preceded in death by her mother and her brother Matthew (“Matt”).
