Emily O’Connell

Services Specialist

Emily (she/her) is honored to serve as part of the Recompose team, where she helps families and communities engage with death as a natural and transformative part of life. She brings compassion, integrity, and reverence for the earth to each person and ceremony she supports.

Her path in deathcare began in Massachusetts, where she gained extensive experience in conventional funeral service and became a licensed funeral director. Over time, Emily felt called to reimagine how death can be approached—with greater ecological mindfulness, emotional depth, and community education. Her work is rooted in the belief that tending to death well is an act of love—for both the departed and the planet.

Outside of her work, Emily finds joy in connecting with her local community through music and art, spending time outdoors exploring and camping, and immersing herself in books, travel, and new experiences that expand her perspective and sense of wonder.
